LabTech Plugin: Browser Versions
Posted on March 21, 2016
Stemming from a request to make it simpler to view the version of Internet Explorer on computers, this plugin was born. And then it quickly exploded into a bit more. It will retrieve information for IE, Chrome, and Firefox and allow you to visualize the breakdown of clients on whatever versions they have so that you can take appropriate action. This plugin is a remote plugin and will retrieve updated information every time you update the software information. While viewing the list of computers and versions, you can also easily filter by client, location, computer name and version software, including wildcards (%). This means that you can hunt down those last few IE 6 machines in a matter of seconds. What a fun afternoon! 🙂 Oh, and the final touch (so far) is that you can export the results to Excel files for later review and record keeping.
You can install from the Plugin Installer, which will restart the database agent and send updated plugin information to all machines. Afterward, simply resend software on any target machine and the information will be fetched. If you want to make it quick and easy(-er), scroll down to Groups\All Agents in the Navigation Tree and do a software inventory there.

[…] Goodbye, Google! Hello, pretty, interactive charts! It’s a minor update, but the new look is so nice that it was worth releasing anyway! You can get some more information and download here. […]
Has anyone tested this plugin with LT11?
Darren,
Sure does as of my testing a while ago. Are you noticing any problems with it?
Thanks,
Tim
I haven’t see a problem because I am not running it in LT11. We disabled untested/third party plugins as a precaution before upgrading. I was just trying to validate compatibility before re-enabling it. I’ll try it out, and let you know if I do see any problems though.
Thanks!
Darren
Thanks Darren, I look forward to your update!
Tim
Any issues with running with LT12?
None that I’ve been made aware of. 🙂
Thanks!
Tim
It’s not pulling for me. I have tried pulling software but hasnt helped. Anywhere I should check for errors?
Thanks
Travis,
You may need to also update remote plugins. The plugin installer issues the command for this, but it seems to not always be effective. After updating remote plugins across all agents, resend software and you should see the information properly in the plugin.
Thanks!
