LabTech Plugin: BSOD Viewer
Posted on December 28, 2014
This plugin will provide a simple interface for you to blue BSOD minidump files from the computer window. Simple download bluescreenview.exe and bluescreenviewx64.exe from Nirsoft to the folder L:\Transfer\Tools\BlueScreenView\. Open up a computer and click the BSODViewer tab. It will download BlueScreenView, execute a quick scan and present the results. It’s not pretty, but it gives you exactly what information you need.
Note that this plugin does not use a database or otherwise store BSOD information. The computer must be online. BlueScreenView is run on-demand and will retrieve all minidump results that it can. Also note that you should have Windows set to save a small minidump file under System Properties\Advanced\Startup and Recovery. Failure to do so will result in BlueScreenView not finding minidump files.
You can install or update the plugin via the Plugin Installer.
Update Version 1.4
-Skipped 1.3 for some reason.
-Fixed an issue with single-threaded apartment errors for LT11 Patch 18/LT12.
Update Version 1.2
-Fixed an issue where the plugin would download the viewer and retrieve results without actually viewing the tab.
-Fixed bottom scroll bar now being available.
Tim,
FYI – We are seeing this script run each time an agent computer is opened in the Control Center, not just when the BSOD Tab is opened. This is not a big deal but does generate extra traffic.

Jeff,
Sorry for the late reply. I’ve noticed this as well and will have it fixed in the upcoming version. Thanks for the report!

Could you create a plugin like this for the WinLogonView application from Nirsoft?
Ryan,
Certainly! I’ve got it on my todo list now. It looks simple enough that I may have a plugin available next week. Thanks for the suggestion!
Just installed this for LT11 and I don’t see it in the plugin “section” although it is loaded in the Plugin Manager.
Am I missing something, or does it not work with LT11?
Michael,
Yes, it does work. Have you restarted your LabTech client? If it still doesn’t show up, please shoot me an email so I can better troubleshoot with you.
Thanks,
Tim
I have the same issue as Michael Schnell. I can’t seem to find it in LT11. What was the solution to this problem?
Devan,
I see now that this is still a problem. I’ll work on getting that resolved.
Thanks,
Tim
Thanks Tim, I greatly appreciate it. Please let me know, if possible, when you have a resolution. I look forward to it very much!
I was shown your site and tools about a week ago and am VERY grateful for the fantastic work you have done.
Was there a resolution on this?
I just installed BSOD viewer today, but am unable to get it to show up. I did confirm that it is enabled in Plugin Manager. I have uploaded bluescreenview.exe and bluescreenviewx64.exe to my server. I have restarted the ConnectWise Automate Control Center.

Running BSOD Viewer from the computer screen in LT 11 doesn’t pull any results. When running BSOD viewer locally, I am able to see the dump files.
